Excavation – Instructions variant 2
- Dig a hole 40 cm longer, 40 cm wider, and 30 cm deeper than the pool’s dimensions.
- Pour clean, washed drainage gravel (8-16 mm grit) over the entire bottom. The gravel layer should be 10 cm thick.
- Lay drainage pipes around the entire bottom and connect them to the drainage pit. NOTE! The drainage pipes must be wrapped in geotextile fabric and evenly distributed in the previously laid drainage gravel around the entire bottom. (The drainage pipes should be laid on top of the gravel and covered with it.).
- The drainage pipes placed in the rubble are connected to the drainage pit, which is placed in one corner of the trench. (The drainage pipes should be sloped towards the drainage pit.)
- A submersible/drainage pump should be placed in the drainage pit. The drainage pump will pump out the drainage water collected in the well.
- The insulated water pipe from the submersible pump must be connected to a storm sewer or sewage pipe.
- Create a formwork for the concrete screed (the screed should be 10 cm larger than the entire pool).
- Lay out reinforcing mesh – 10 cm x 10 cm, 3.0 mm diameter, 1 m x 2 m.
- Pour 10 cm of B25 concrete.
- Lay out 10 cm of Styrofoam or XPS 200 polystyrene.
- Check that everything is level.
- Lift the pool with a crane and place it in the trench on the properly prepared ground.
- Place concrete blocks under the second pool step (measured from the top of the pool) to support the steps and gently raise them.
- Fill the pool with 30 cm of water. Begin backfilling the pool with a dry 4:1 sand-cement mix around the pool, up to the level of the water. NOTE! The 4:1 sand-cement mix should be spread so that the walls and each step are completely covered, leaving no gaps. It’s crucial to backfill the steps thoroughly. The steps must be completely backfilled. Then, moisten the mix with water and tamp it down thoroughly.
- Refill the pool with 30 cm of water and backfill the pool with the 4:1 sand-cement mix, up to the level of the water. Repeat this process until the skimmer and nozzles are level.
- Begin gluing the hoses (the skimmer hose and the nozzle hose connected with a T-connector).
- Insulate the hoses with foam insulation.
- Backfill the skimmer, nozzles, and lights with only sand, no cement.
- Continue pouring water into the pool until the skimmer is halfway up.
- Finish backfilling the pool with a sand-cement mixture around the pool.
Installing the drain behind the pool:
- Dig a hole for the drain 75 cm to 100 cm behind the pool.
- The drain hole should be 20 cm longer, 20 cm wider, and 10 cm deeper than the dimensions of the drain.
- Dig the hole so that the entrance to the drain is at the same level as the pool.
- Level the subfloor with a 2:1 sand-cement mixture. The mix should be 10 cm thick.
- Lay the drainage pipes around the drain and connect them to the existing drainage pit. NOTE!
– Drainage pipes should be laid with a slope towards the drain!
– Drainage pipes should be wrapped in pipe lagging!
– Drainage pipes should be placed on top of drainage stones and covered with them! - Place the manhole in the trench.
- Fill the manhole with a 4:1 sand-cement mixture.
Happy work!
